I wanted to take the 10- to a "technical area" but since we had some members in the convoy with limited experience and 3 trucks I decided against it and opted for the same area as Carlos' drive last week that has clean dunes and no traffic.

The convoy did very very well, very few normal issues that were corrected and resolved nicely, it was enjoyable to lead them and I hope they all enjoyed it.

It might be time to start turning the heat up slightly so get ready!!!

Many thanks for Presa and Carlos for supporting the drive as well as Vika, Lapsis and Marco that once again joined to provide amazing support for this drive making possible to give continuity to our activities over Eid.

Hello all,

This was my 3rd newbie drive and I really enjoyed it. Good start and in general good pace overall. I managed to be more conscious of the mistakes we make based on the feedback and tips from the previous drive. I was happy in general with the progress I'm making but still a lot to learn and improve, especially judging the speed and momentum to reach the crest of the dunes without getting stuck (too slow) or risking flying (too fast).
Many thanks to David for organizing and the rest of the support team: Carlos, Presa, Vika, Lapsis and Marco for making us feel safe throughout the drive.
Really looking forward to the next one!

Hi everyone!

Beautiful drive with no incidents was successfully delivered by @David last Saturday with the support of @presa , myself and our Ramadan brave int. @Vika , @mpodroid and @Lapsis .

Beautiful lines and a bit of everything (straight cresting, arches, safari and technical areas) were part of the menu. This area is wonderful and versatile, so it is very joyful even when watching over the convoy.

David gave us a nice early morning work out, so I am thankful about it. No need to go to the gym this day. I specially remind the last straight crest just 100m away from the power lines …I take note brother.

And taking about work outs, heat is starting to show up so the pop-outs session under the sun is about to get started so good luck to both our brave interm and dear newbie members.

Our newbie convoy did very well and we can see the improvement after a few drives. Not too much flying, starting to report well on the radio and managing good distance. In a few more drives they will master the basics.

I believe that after Liwa drive our new batch of newbie members will be ready for some more serious fun and they might see a different marshals behaviour…the little birds are about to leave the nest…and fly (not too much I hope).

My third drive.

Learnt a LOT from this drive - still processing now

Arrived to sunny Sweihan, (late sorry! And thanks guys for deflating my tires!!) After the briefing the convoy was led by David, I was 3rd car - amazing views as usual on the drive, much more variety than I’d done before and a lot of nerve wracking elements. I did end up sliding sideways when I came down the first bigger slope which was a bit terrifying. A combination of taking my foot off the accelerator too much, bushes on my exit path and a bit of panic. Big thanks to Carlos who took me round to do it again first as passenger and then twice as driver. This quickly stopped it becoming a trauma (I think)

The Pajero did take another battering, thumped over a crest and also bounced down too hard from a slope but still in one piece for now… still learning how best to handle the car. It was good to understand my car can jump to 2nd gear despite being in manual on 1st and feeling first hand the difference / issues this can cause on the steeper climbs. Now I know to keep nudging it back to 1st until it switches, as before I didn’t know this could happen or understand why it would suddenly feel like it lost power.

I needed assistance a fair few times this drive actually , one occasion I was stuck at the bottom and didn’t have enough power to get out. Thanks to Danillo (because I was struggling to reverse at any useful speed) to assist and I learnt how to leverage more momentum to get out of the pit.

I did also get stuck on a crest and got my rope out the bag for the first time. Good to see how to use it Thanks to Victoria for towing me back.

This drive definitely pushed my limits - multiple times! But as always I felt completely supported by all the support team - thanks everyone so much. The encouragement from David and each of the support team is much appreciated and creates an awesome environment to learn in. Also the small things like support team sharing some videos / photos and being able to see some of what I did after the drive was an added bonus Thanks!
