I am planing to leave my new Pajero(2011) for my daily use and get a toy for the desert!!
want to get a budget 4x4 and then customize it for the desert..
:023:(thinking) of Jeep( Wrangler/Cherokee), Old 3 Door Pajero, Nissan Patrol(prior 99) or a 4 door pick up (Toyota/Nissan).
Budget around AED 30,000 for the base downer vehicle without modifications.
Criteria for selection,
Cost of base vehicle
Size of engine/ Off Road performance
Ground clearance for desert use
Availability of mechanical spares
Availability of cosmetic parts
Please put in your thoughts guyz!!!

My personal preference would be a Nissan patrol (late 90 - early 00)
Reasons: Reliability, Engine power, Parts availability (both mechanical & cosmetic)

If someone can locate a clean please do let me know as well.
For 30 K you can get a good Jeep.
Good luck mate.

If you could wait few months the prices will even go down in summer season. I believe you could find a 2000-2001 nissan patrol cheaper than 90s since they are still wanted in the market and as the guys said its really to find 1 in a good condition. Just try to avoid 1998-1999 models, they got some technical issues. For really cheap nice car for desert fun you can think of cherokee 2000+ models. But I have no idea how good is this car but hopefully cherokee owners would help you with that.

Go for it, I didn't try to drive my suggestion, but it looked well. It's definitely better than any Peep from that age. :011:alfalasi;9037 wrote:Now I'm thinking 2 get a patrol :010:
