First of all I would like to thank Almost Family for the warm wishes and for the cake :059: highly appreciated :057:
The trip was really a surprise, for every point of view....unfortunatelly Strawb was not able to drive since his Cherokee early in the morning refuse to start :054:, I am sure that he enjoyed to passenger of Bu Salem, but is not the same :022:
Second surprise was the leading of the convoy.....this time we had four Intermediate drivers (Rashidjass, Al Falasi, Bu-Hamdan and Mazaaj that were in charge to lead the group, with DC as second lead (Guardian Angel :045:) and Abu Jimmy as Sweeper supervisor.
Bu Salem, Caprihorse and myself we were playing around to have a look on the action :030:.
The drive went smooth, just a small technical problem for Roby (FJ things) but it was solved very quickly by Bu Salem and DC and a few stucks....someone not really easy but with the competence of Almost Marshals everything went in the right way and all drivers reached the end of the trip safely.
Of course when we reach the end and Strawb tried to start the engine of his Cherokee, the engine decided to switch on quite immediately and he was able to go back home with his car....really Jeep things :011:
At the end of the day another nice event with Almost 4x4 Family, thanks a lot to all and hope to see you soon back on the sand.

Sweihan ...... it seems that the Al Khatim side of sweihan has its curse on my cherokee ....... first trip out was a disconnected rear drive shaft which forced me to front wheel drive out of the soft dunes ..... this friday was a bit more friendlier as my XJ refused to start in the morning of the drive ....... wherein the marshals pulled me out by the gate access almost4x4 style .......
this recurring badluck however opened the opportunity for me to get a chance to be the co-pilot of "THE MASTER" .... our beloved Abu Salem!
the advantages you learn when you sit in the cockpit with a seasoned offroader as to compared to following their tracks is a couple of things:
1. You observe their reaction time in relation to the technicality of the track chosen
2. You try to forecast the track they are going to take if it is in the same line you see if you were the one driving (I had a hit and miss of about 7 out of 10)
3. How to maximize and use the full potential of the options of your 4x4
4. You can be a personal witness to see that a 4x4 can do the unthinkable (believe me there were walls we crested i would have never considered doing)
the best part was that i was given a chance to play with transformer in the "BOWL OF DOOM" ...... transformer is a monster ........ I can confirm that Abu Salems's signature is true "The Car and the Driver are both MODIFIED"
I highly recommend to anyone that if Abu Salem inveites you to co pilot with him ..... leave your car and go ........ there is a wealth of information to be learned in half a days offroading with the MASTER
The campfire set up by armin was perfect to set the mood for Yoghybear's simple birthday surprise as well as a good ambience to have the priceless chitchats with my second family ...... I had a good night sleep with my bedroom set up though .... which was good as i survived the motion sickness as a passenger the following morning .....
My fellow intermediates did a very good job of leading and sweeping the convoy ..... an opportunity i missed because of the XJ issue ...... we covered good ground as scheduled and it was a very good preparation for all of those joining us in Liwa .....
as we came back to inflate the tires ...... we tried to re-start my XJ ..... Duck Commander asisted in contacting the recovery and while he was on the phone to confirm if iwas going to have the XJ picked up .... DC said that the charge for recovery would be 400aed from sweihan to Dubai ...... i said Holy $h*t ... thats expensive ...... i tried restarting the XJ and it did ..... so i was a happy camper with free mandi on the way home (thanks D) plus i got to drive my XJ back to Dubai ......
Now that is what you call a "Jeep Thing"
cheers and see you guys in LIWA .......

:025: Woke up at 4:30am, asked Maaz you want to come to Sweihan he jumped out of his bed and got ready.
We reach first meeting at 6:45am I thought I will be the first but Marshal Capri was :028: waiting for us.
We reached camping area at 7:30am
And we saw unfortunately Strawb’s car was not starting but as he said he really gained lots of experience from Bu Salem, when I do mistake while driving in desert Maaz used to tell me you must sit as a passenger with Bu Salem you will learn from him what to do in this situation because he sat with Bu Salem many times………..
It was very good weather freezing :027: in morning but when Bu Salem announced victims name suddenly weather changed and start sweating :026: and my good friends were calling my name on radio Rashidjass will be the first victim :055:
But later felt proud when I saw around 20 cars behind me and I m leading the convoy :008: Like Nissan power..
Thank you Almost4x4 :045:
I must say wow to my other three buddies Mazaaj, Bu Hamdan and Falasi they were fantastic :045:
I really enjoyed driving behind them. Thank you guys for wonderful drive……
Thanks to all drivers who were with us..
And Special thanks to Bu Salem, Capri, DC, Yoghybear and Abu Jimmy :028:

This being my 1st Intermediate drive....it was amazing.
As part of Learning, before starting off with the drive, I had my plan of action setup, to take up slow steps w/o too much of excitement and to first analyse the driving atmosphere in Intermediate Trips. This was a completely different experience. I took few short cuts wherever i felt uncomfortable,i slowed down and took rounds at certain points to achieve the dunes...etc. On the whole, Drive was a fantastic Learning experience for myself.
Talking about the event, the climate around the night camp was cold and just too good. Had a fantastic 1 and half hour chat with Yoghy. Later had some real Arabic chat with omar, abu jimmy, mazaaj and falasi where me and nancy being the audience trying to figure out what were they actually talking:022:. It was an amazin n8.
The morning drive kicked off with surprise that 4 Intermeditate drivers would be leading the convoy with a change after every 20 mintues or so. Drivers took up the challenge w/o any hesitation which was a good sign. Thank you Rashid, Mazaaj, Falasi and Bu-Hamdan for the fantastic Lead and keeping us entertained.
I am further more awaiting to see you all in LIWA. See you all there.
